1. Our approach

1.1. Content available through Verdge — including media that users upload or generate and products listed for sale — is created and controlled by our users, not by Verdge. We act as a hosting and technology provider.

1.2. When we receive a valid notice that content infringes someone's copyright, we remove or disable access to that content, notify the user who provided it, and — for users who infringe repeatedly — terminate their accounts. This process is intended to be consistent with the Nigerian Copyright Act 2022 and, for content that reaches users or platforms abroad, the notice-and-takedown framework of the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

2. How to send a takedown notice

If you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on their behalf, send a written notice to our designated copyright contact (Section 4) that includes all of the following:

1. identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed (or a representative list, if multiple works);
2. identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it — including the URL, product, agent, or account, and any relevant screenshots;
3. your full name, postal address, telephone number, and email address;
4. a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
5. a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf;
6. your physical or electronic signature.

An incomplete notice may delay our response. Note that knowingly making a material misrepresentation in a notice may expose you to liability for damages, including costs and legal fees.

3. What happens next

3.1. On receiving a valid notice, we will remove or disable access to the identified content, typically promptly, and take reasonable steps to notify the user who provided it.

3.2. Counter-notice. If your content was removed and you believe this was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send us a counter-notice that includes: identification of the removed content and where it appeared; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the content was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification; your name, address, and telephone number; your consent to the jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria (and, where applicable to a DMCA matter, the relevant U.S. federal court); and your signature.

3.3. Where the law permits, we may restore removed content after a reasonable period following a valid counter-notice, unless the original complainant notifies us that they have filed a legal action to restrain the allegedly infringing activity.

5. Repeat infringers

We terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers, and we may suspend or remove any content, agent, product, or account that we reasonably believe infringes third-party rights or violates our Terms of Service.
